What’s an issue without a competition? Our supporters have been more than generous with donations of yarn and although we’d love to keep it all, of course, we feel our readers deserve a share in the goodies as well!
This issue is all about Summer and we’d love to hear your summer knitting stories. Maybe you’ve got your knitting at the beach with you, or plan your holidays around visiting yarn shops. Write us up to 150 words, include a picture if you have one, and send it in by email with ‘Summer Comp’ in the subject line.
We will make a shortlist of the best tales and post them here on the blog - then we’ll let you, our readers, make the final decision. Yarny prizes will go to the best two! Competition closes June 7, 2008.
Best of luck!

Summer knitting is fabulous for me. Last summer I was battling significant burnout and fell in love with knitting various projects-especially socks.
This summer, I will be visiting yarn shops in other cities for vacation and knitting mittens as they are not large and will be my Christmas present of choice for others. Also, I sit outside in the sunshine, knit to my heart’s content, listen to audiobooks and knitting podcasts in my peaceful backyard in the evenings after work. I couldn’t ask for a better summer match!
I’d love to win the yarny goodness.

Summer is my favorite time to knit. I take my children to the pool and sit pool side with my socks or other small projects while they splash away. This year my favorite projects are the knitted babes and their accessories from the book Knitted Babes by Claire Garland. The children and parents at the pool stop by during the rest breaks to ask questions and watch me knit. I am in knitting heaven every summer!
