While we love using yarns from all over the world, we also want to promote British yarns in The Inside Loop. The internet means that almost no yarn is unobtainable in the UK, but that doesn’t mean ignoring the yarns on our own doorstep. We’re slightly yarn obsessed and think we know almost every UK yarn out there, but there are probably still more that we haven’t come across. Even Diane can’t have them *all* in her stash… ;-)

So it’s over to you! Which UK yarns would you like to see featured in The Inside Loop? Which yarns are your favourite? Are there any gorgeous yarns out there that deserve more attention? Whether it’s a mass-produced yarn from a large company or one-off colours from an Etsy seller, we want to know about it. :-D

Since we have no shortage of sheep in this country I can’t wait to find out more about local yarns! I’ve jsut knitted Calorimetry with a 100% organic rare breeds yarn in its natural colour. I’d definitely be interested in finding out about more yarns like that. I love the wonderful colours we can produce, but sometimes its nice to be a bit more natural I think. I knew this stuff was real cos it had bits of hay in it ;-)

I love most of the Sublime yarns - especially Cashmere Silk Merino.
I’d like to see an organic wool that was dyed with natural/plant dyes. I’d also like to be able to get an alpaca/wool blend in dk or aran that is affordable.
And can you start a petition to get Jaeger yarns made again? Matchmaker is such a great basic affordable yarn that comes in fantastic colours!

Well, as a dedicated Dee groupie, I have to mention Posh Yarns. There is also The Yarn Yard in Edinburgh. Colinette, from Wales, are colour genii. Wensleydale Longwool, Garthenor Organic, Jamieson & Smith AND Jamieson of Shetland, Heirloom Knitting do their own range of cobweb yarns.

Oh yes I def second the Yarn Yard - wonderful yarns, beautiful colours. And the roving!!! Yummy. Natalie is most definitely a colour genie! Garthenor Organic is wonderful too - i have a bag of Chris’s goodies waiting to be knit up. Great for british breeds too as his wool is from all over the UK!

    What a fabulous idea - I can’t wait !

The Yarn Yard is fab but I also have to mention Piece of Beauty and Old Maiden Aunt as Kirsty and Lilith both have a fabulous sense of colour and produce some seriously gorgeous stuff.
